Celebrating Painkiller Addict Going Stateside – FREE giveaway

Only a month to go before Painkiller Addict: From Wreckage To Redemption launches in the US. Excited isn’t the word.

I have long admired the US and Canada for embracing the debate around addiction – and for talking openly about this disease of the soul.

It is not enough any more to criminalise addicts and expect addictive behaviours to disappear. Hasn’t worked so far. Won’t ever work.

That is because most of us seem to have been born this way, with something missing from inside ourselves, be it a chemical dopamine-meltdown or an emotional vacuum. Call it what you will but we use the drugs or the drink or the sex or the gambling or the overeating to fill that abstract space.

It doesn’t work, of course. But then neither does hiding it under the carpet, hoping the monster will vanish along with the slime trail of social disorder, chaos and poverty that goes with it.

The US is further along the road of open discussion about addiction, it seems to me. So I am loving the thought of my book sitting on the shelves of homes, libraries and bookstores across America and Canada.

I’m loving it so much I’m giving it away free – 15 copies of Painkiller Addict: From Wreckage To Redemption up for grabs here:

With love,
